Butler Road closes tonight in Stafford

Butler Road in Stafford is shutting down to all traffic at 8 tonight.

It will not reopen until noon Sunday.

The road will be closed between the Ray Grizzle Activity Center and St. Clair Brooks Park.

Virginia Department of Transportation workers are replacing a failed drainage pipe under Butler Road.

Drivers will be allowed to access the park and the activity center during the road work.

Drivers must take a detour until the road reopens.

VDOT suggests the following detours:

For drivers traveling from U.S. 1:

Take State Route 624 (Layhill Road/Primmer House Road) and make a right turn at State Route 626 (Leeland Road). Make a right turn onto State Route 607 (Deacon Road). Turn right at State Route 218 (Butler Road).

For drivers traveling south on Warrenton Road (U.S. 17):

Make a left turn onto U.S. 1 north. Turn right onto State Route 624 (Layhill Road/Primmer House Road). Turn right at State Route 626 (Leeland Road) and make a right turn onto State Route 607 (Deacon Road). Turn right at State Route 218 (Butler Road).

For drivers trying to access U.S. 1:

Take State Route 218 (Butler Road and White Oak Road) to State Route 607 (Deacon Road). Turn left onto State Route 626 (Leeland Road). Turn left onto State Route 624 (Primmer House Road/Layhill Road) to U.S. 1.
