DAILY GRIND BREWS A GRAND OPENING

The Daily Grind Coffee House and Cafe in Cosner's Corner will celebrate its grand opening beginning Tuesday and culminating with a ribbon cutting at noon July 4.

Special events next week will include live music by a variety of local musicians the evening of July 3.

ICE CREAM SHOP OPENS DOWNTOWN

Scoops Whistle Stop, a soft-serve ice cream and homemade candy shop, has opened at 719 Caroline St. Owners Brendan and Eileen Kelly also have a Scoops in Town & Country shopping center in Stafford County.

Applica Consumer Products is recalling about 584,000 Black & Decker Spacemaker Coffeemakers because the brew basket can shift out of alignment, causing overflow.

For the new downtown businesses, I wish that you would mention what business used to occupy the location. That's how us townies find anything.
