Fredericksburg police chased who they thought were three female credit card thieves in Central Park Monday. Date published: 7/8/2009 By Ellen Biltz Three charged in credit card theft Fredericksburg police chased credit card thieves to three stores Monday. But the group didn't get far--they didn't even make it out of the city. Natatia Bledsoe of the Fredericksburg Police Department said the group of three people stole credit cards from the purse of a Home Gallery by Richmond employee on Monday afternoon. Two of the people distracted the woman while another stole the cards, Bledsoe said. But the employee called her credit card company immediately. Bledsoe said police were able to track the car full of thieves to Wal-Mart, then Wawa, then Exxon, because they kept using the woman's cards. They were all arrested before making it out of Fredericksburg and each face 11 credit card theft-related charges. Charged are Anthony Austin, 27, Elliott "Chanel" Thorpe, 29, and Michael "Destinee" Allen, 22, all of Washington, D.C. They are all being held at Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond, Bledsoe said. --Ellen Biltz
Credit card thieves will know better now to stay out of Fredericksburg.
look better when 3 are arrested as a "criminal gang". When just one person uses a stolen card (which probably happens a 1000 times a day in VA) it's just a routine crime.
I guess they wanted to do a one-stop shopping.
If you've ever had your credit card stolen, you know what panic you feel. Throw the book at them!
Ever notice when you read an article about someone using a stolen credit card, Walmart seems to be a common denominator? It's almost like all they care about is making a sale.
