Two cancer patients will be featured next week at the third Survivor Symposium at Mary Washington Hospital Date published: 7/9/2009
BY JIM HALL Two cancer patients will talk about the emotional and spiritual impact of the disease at the third in a series Jean Peterson, who had ovarian cancer, and Mike Lewis, a prostate-cancer survivor, will be featured speakers. Both are residents of the Fredericksburg area. The session will be held Wednesday, July 15, at 6:30 p.m. in the hospital auditorium. It is free and open to the public. Also featured will be Libby Wasem, staff director of Fredericksburg Counseling, and a panel discussion with Dr. Frederick Tucker and Dr. Sudeep Menachery, Fredericksburg oncologists, and Bette Goglia, a hospice chaplain. The Survivor Symposiums are sponsored by the Oncology Resources Services division at the hospital and its cancer-navigator program.
