SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY

Bethel Reformed Presbyterian Church, 9304 Onyx Court, will hold a special service tomorrow at 6 p.m., remembering the 500th birthday of the reformer John Calvin. Following a message on Calvin's great theme of the glory of God, the Rev. Stephen Doe will talk about Calvin's life and significance. 540/898-8081.

Branch Fork Baptist Church, 6930 Stubbs Bridge Road, near Lake Anna, will celebrate "Friends and Family Day" tomorrow at 11 a.m. Special guests include the Rev. Chris Manuel and his church. An old-fashioned barbecue picnic with games and other activities will follow the morning service and members are encouraged to share a covered dish. All are welcome to attend. The NAACP King and Queen of Branch Fork Baptist Church will host a "Crowning Glory Celebration of Hats" program July 18 at 3 p.m., with the Mount Zion Men's Choir of Caret featured in a gospel concert.
