I was particularly impressed with three historical pieces that have been published recently in The Free Lance-Star.
The July 1 op-ed by Thomas G. Moeller ["Founders pledged lives, fortunes: Would we?"] asks

Marc Leepson's July 3 op-ed ["Old Glory: Of what we so proudly hail"] primarily speaks about our flag and how it was a symbol of revolt against British rule.
The July 4 editorial ["'Our sacred honor'"] reflects on Thomas Moeller's op-ed, which spells out how our founders pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to give us the freedom we have today.
We all need to remember this and not let our current government fritter away our blessed freedoms, which generations have fought
