Nice Bridge lane
A single lane of the Harry W. Nice Bridge will close between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. today, tomorrow and Thursday for a bridge inspection.
Also, a single lane will close from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. tonight and tomorrow night into Thursday morning for bridge painting.
Traffic will take turns crossing the bridge in the remaining open lane. Travelers should expect delays.
Engineers are performing the bridge's annual inspection during the daytime
Trucks wider than 11 ft. will not be allowed to cross the bridge during the daytime closures. Anyone driving an oversize vehicle must call 301/259-4444 to schedule a crossing appointment at least 24 hours before arriving at the bridge. Calls are accepted only between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays.
Paving scheduled for U.S. 29 in Culpeper
Paving on U.S. 29 in the Culpeper area could cause traffic delays this week near the U.S. 29 Business/State Route 299 interchange.
Because of the width of the interchange ramps and the size of the paving equipment, the interchange's ramps will be closed while they are being paved, according to a Virginia Department of Transportation news release.
The paving project is expected to take six days, with work expected to last into early next week.
Drivers can use the U.S. 15 interchange a mile north of the U.S. 29 Business/State Route 299 interchange as an alternate exit.
Message signs have been posted at the interchange to alert travelers to that day's work and closing times.
