Gov. Tim Kaine wants workers to stay out of the office tomorrow.
With the permission of your employer, of course.
Monday is Virginia Telework Day, and Kaine is encouraging residents to work from home or a remote location tomorrow.
Participants can register their commitment to telework at teleworkexchange .com/teleworkday. There, workers can calculate their cost savings, as well any reduced impact on the environment.
By the end of last week, there were more than 3,000 individual pledges to telework Monday, and commitments from two dozen Virginia employers, public and private, to have some employees work elsewhere.
Together, the pledges will save Virginians $105,699 in fuel expenses and other costs by teleworking, and will spare the environment 70.41 tons of pollutants, according to Telework Exchange.
