Lake Anna Island Complex is growing Date published: 8/14/2009 By Cathy Jett BY NEXT SPRING, the Lake The development will be getting "We're looking for completion J.A. Snyder Entities in Stroudsburg, Pa., broke ground for The Island Shops yesterday. Its restaurants will include Asian Cafe, a combination Japanese steakhouse and sushi bar. The other, as yet unnamed, will serve American-style fare, and customers will be able to pull up in their boats, dock, and eat on the pier. "People will feel as comfortable there in bathing suits and shorts as Hawaiian shorts and shirts," Blount said. "It will be a nice place for lunch or dinner." Other tenants will include Lake Anna Island Realty, which will move there from its present location on the property, plus Northern Virginia Title and Escrow, a hair and nail salon, and a combination ice cream shop and coffee bar, Blount said. Next up for the 30-acre Lake Anna Island project will be a 60,000-square-foot building that will contain 40 condos, bringing the total to 80. Plans call for 140 condos when the project is built out. Blount said he expects some owners will use the condos as weekend homes, while others will rent them out to people who want to spend a relaxing week on the lake or take part in triathlons and other activities popular in that area. "We have eight rentals now out of the 40 condos," he said, noting that there is no hotel in the immediate area. The number of boat slips at Lake Anna Yacht Club also is expected to eventually increase from 40 currently to more than 400, and should find a ready market with boaters living in Charlottesville, the Fredericksburg area and Northern Virginia, Blount said. "[State Route] 208 is covered with people hauling boats up and down the road from Bowling Green, Spotsylvania and Stafford trying to get to the lake on weekends," he said. For about $30,000, they can get a slip at the club's pier, which has a security gate, lift and storage units. "They can come down here, pop the boat in the water, fish, then come back to take a shower, eat and be done," Blount said. "They don't have to worry about loading their boat. Anyone who messes with boats knows how much fun that is." By spring, yacht club members also will have access to a private beach, pool, clubhouse and hospitality area. There will be a kids' area, and possibly on-site day care as well. Non-members will be able to use some of the facilities, such as the clubhouse's showers, but all the details have not been worked out yet, Blount said. Cathy Jett: 540/374-5407
Hey BLK,
This article said nothing about "reactors, noise or degrading their quality of life".
Imagine all the jobs and longterm economic growth that would be created if the United States began building Nuclear plants again! Resideintial and commercial growth could be sustained for 30 years AND we'd have clean AMERICAN industry and jobs.
Seem to Forget the Lake is for the Plant and Not for Them !!! They Chose to Move there !!! It is like Dulles being built way out where there were No Homes at the time. Now People have built nice Homes all around the Airport and complain about the Noise !!! What did they think the Airport was for ? Just like the Lake, what did they think it was for ??? If the reactors go, So to goes Your Power.. Jerks!
it will be more people to complain about the power plant and how it is degrading their quality of life even though the only reason there is a lake is because of the reactors.
