Zora M. Howe

Zora Marie Howe, 88, of Fredericksburg, widow of George W. Howe Sr., died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, at Mary Washington Hospital.

Mrs. Howe was born in Caroline County and was the daughter of William Thomas Lumpkin and Lottie Mae Farmer Lumpkin. She was a loving wife and mother, and enjoyed being a homemaker to her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Dawn M. Skinner and her husband, John, of Port Royal; her son, George W. Howe Jr. and his wife, Lara, of Great Falls; her grandchildren, Rebecca Utley of Myrtle Beach, S.C., John G. Kent and his wife, Cheryl, of Richardsville, Dr. Diana M. Almy and her husband, Robb, of Corbin, Christopher Howe of Richmond, and Alexander Howe of Aberdeen, Md; stepgranddaughter, Tammy Berfield and her husband, Rex, of Stafford County; great-grandchildren, Tyler Kent, Luke Kent, Robert Almy IV, Jack Almy and Nolan Almy; stepgreat-grandchildren Jeniffer Berfield and Alyssa Berfield; and nieces Judi Hardin and her husband, Cliff, Dorothy Quarles and her husband, Dan, and Virginia Dodd and her husband, Jim.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg, with the Rev. Robb Almy officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
