I appreciate the true picture of Ted Kennedy

This is big "thank you" to Froma Harrop ["Honor the man, but reject the 'dynasty'," Aug. 28] and Paul Greenberg ["Beyond what he was in a (flawed) life," Aug. 31].

It was refreshing to read their op-eds about Sen. Ted Kennedy, which touched on the truth for a change.

Readers might wish to bone up on books such as "Senatorial Privilege" by Leo Damore, "Living with the Kennedys: The Joan Kennedy Story" by Marcia Chellis, or "Shattered Faith" by Sheila Rauch Kennedy.

Yes, those of us who were born and brought up in Massachusetts do have these on our bookshelves, along with the Bible, and were taught that truth is better than fiction.

Readers should also bone up on the health care plan used in the great state of Massachusetts, or as my friends and relatives up there would say, Taxachusetts.

The seventh and eighth paragraphs of Mr. Greenberg's op-ed were refreshing. For some reason, the news stations never mentioned that truth.

Regarding the book references ... Funny how Joan Kennedy showed up at Sen. Kennedy's funeral air-kissing EVERYONE. Sadly she is a chronic alcoholic. Regardless, the Kennedy's never failed in supporting her, even Ted. He was a man who faced tragedies (some of his own making) but he turned himself around and worked endlessly and tirelessly for the everyday man/woman!! He was rightly called the LION OF THE SENATE. We owe so much of our enriched American lives to him.

such a unbias letter! it is quite obvious from your letter that you have no axe to grind with the kennedy's. any book written from the ex-spouse of anybody isn't going to have a favorable opinion on the former spouse. no one is saying that the kennedy's are perfect - none of us are, but there are people out there who think that they should be because they have money & privledge - that's envy speaking. for anybody to say that the kennedy family has done more harm than good are ignorant of their history.

wich is more than several of "the big O's" cabinet nominees can say with any honesty. As to "Teddy the red nosed Senator" he was a hypocrite of the first degree, Sitting in judgement at Clarence Thomas' confirmation hearings, yet here will continue to be those mindless liberal sheep that think anyone named Kennedy can do no wrong,

kennedy bad for USA (posted by stonewallpark , Sep. 4, 2009 4:36 pm)    0 likes
The truth is the whole family has done more bad than good. i am glad the truth has cme out in part. There are many many more truths to come. They were the begining of America's downfall .

hey BLK, who determines our "fair share"? (posted by Justice1 , Sep. 4, 2009 3:07 pm)    0 likes
And fair share of what? It is the "what" that most people have a problem with, not the fair share. By the way, what about the 40% of working americans that pay 0 share, nada, zilch, zero taxes, what about their fair share?
