Joe Brito is committed to Stafford County, and will stabilize its finances

September 10, 2009 12:35 am

In November, we will elect a new governor; however, equally important will be the vote we cast for our representative on the Stafford Board of Supervisors.

I care deeply about what happens here, and that is why I am suppor-ting Joe Brito for Hartwood supervisor.

I believe that one of the main goals for Stafford County is to stabilize the financial situation in this county, and this is also one of Mr. Brito's top priorities.

The BPOL that was passed with Mr. Brito's support will generate approximately $4 million in revenue, allocated to transportation, schools, fire and rescue, and sheriffs.

Without BPOL, homeowners' real estate taxes would have to be raised.

As a homeowner who is struggling to pay real estate taxes and as a parent, I am thankful that Mr. Brito is working towards solutions to help those of us who have been bearing the tax burden in the past.

Mr. Brito is also committed to keeping his constituents up-to-date on all county matters through e-mails and town hall meetings.

As a full-time supervisor, he is always available to answer questions, and he actively encourages residents to become more involved in local government.

He understands the great impact that a supervisor's decisions have on his district's inhabitants.

Joe Brito must remain on the Stafford Board of Supervisors to continue his work on establishing a financially sound county.

We need a Board of Supervisors with independent-minded individuals like Joe Brito, who are interested in what is best for the residents of Stafford County--not what is best for their own personal agenda.
