It's time to mount our soapboxes, respectfully

September 11, 2009 12:36 am

I don't claim allegiance to the Republican or the Democratic parties. I consider myself an independent, maybe even a libertarian. I believe in small government and personal freedom.

Basically, a libertarian is one who advocates personal liberty, especially with regard to thought or conduct.

A libertarian also maintains the doctrine of free will, as long as it doesn't interfere with other people's rights.

I don't agree with or condone the lifestyles of some people. But I will never attempt to force my beliefs or my will on others.

I may debate with others and attempt to persuade them that what I believe is right, but I will do it in a nonviolent, respectful way.

I'm no pushover, and those who know me will agree. I have values and morals I am very passionate about, and they will never change.

The bottom line is that America is headed down a perilous and tumultuous road. Government has become a vast and dangerous entity.

Some will ignore this fact at their own peril. Others will agree, but do nothing. Yet there are some of us who must and will do something to save America.

I have a job and work very hard, yet I take the time to do my part. Those who agree with me, and who know that this country is worth saving, should join me.

We the people must act now. Now is the time for soapbox preaching.
