Paul Milde is highly effective, gets my vote

I don't know Paul Milde, never met the man in person, and probably wouldn't recognize him on the street.

I'm not a Republican, and I am not a real estate developer.

I have no applications for rezoning, proffer amendments, conditional-use permits, comprehensive plan amendments, or appeals to the Stafford Board of Supervisors. I never have, and I don't ever plan to.

But for the first time in my life, in 37 years as a registered voter, I actually made a campaign contribution.

I did so because of Paul Milde's accomplishments with Crow's Nest, because I happen to agree with him on many--not all--issues facing our community, and because he is highly effective.

Are some members of the board so threatened they must suggest that public support is somehow linked with political favors? I find the concept insulting ["Stafford debates election finance," Sept. 8].

Wake up, supervisors. We like Paul Milde because he does a great job.
