Ruth B. Parr

Ruth B. Parr, 87, of Kirkland Village, Bethlehem, Pa., died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill, Pa.

She was the beloved wife of the late Preston Parr, who died Nov. 19, 2001. Born in Los Angeles, she was the daughter of the late Claude G. and Louise Miner Beardslee. Ruth earned her master's degree from Lehigh University and received her bachelor's degree from Simmons College. She was a librarian at the Centennial School in Bethlehem for many years and most recently at Kirkland Village.

Survivors include her daughters, Caroline S. Parr and Louise M. Parr, both of Fredericksburg; Elizabeth A. Parr and her husband, Edward Reibman; and Judith B. Parr and her husband, Patrick Ytsma; sister Claudia G. Beardslee; brother Alvord M. Beardslee; and four grandchildren, Samuel and Sarah Reibman, and Willem and Caroline Ytsma. She was preceded in death by a sister, Betsy Cooley.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, in the auditorium at Kirkland Village, Bethlehem. Arrangements are by Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, Allentown, Pa.
