Annie M. Epps

Mrs. Annie Maude Epps, 80, of King George County died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, at Mary Washington Hospital. She was born Feb. 14, 1929, in Caroline County, the daughter of Newton Johnson and Ethel Garnett.

Mrs. Epps worked at Mount Rose Canning Co., King George, and was a member of Salem Baptist Church, King George. She was the widow of John T. Epps.

She is survived by two sons, Lawrence M. Johnson of Waldorf, Md., and Jack W. Johnson of King George; three daughters, Dorothy R. Johnson and Fannie Mae Bumbrey, both of King George, and Phyllis L. Bates of Cheltenham, Md.; two brothers, Ernest Lee Johnson of King George and Edward Johnson of Williamsburg; three sisters, Garnett Hackett of Montross, Annie Marie Berkley of Crew and Mary E. Grimes of King George; two brothers-in-law, Calvin Grimes of King George and George Berkley of Crew; two sisters-in-law, Doris Johnson of King George and Irene Johnson of Montross; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be held at noon Monday, Oct. 5, at Salem Baptist Church, King George, with the Rev. Leonard C. Bland officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. Monday until the time of the service at the church.

Arrangements are being handled by Lee Funeral Home, King George.
