The Nazis did it one small step at a time

I am writing in response to Justin Freeman's Sept. 11 letter titled "Comparisons to Nazis are just ridiculous."

Does Mr. Freeman think Adolf Hitler just stepped to the plate and took over? It started in bits and pieces.

It is our right and duty to be vigilant to make darn sure it never, ever happens again. If we are a bit touchy about it, so be it. Ask a Jew if he thinks it's not a great idea to be on guard.

We are not going to be led down the primrose path by those in the government who decide they want to take away our constitutional rights and "change America" into Europe.

Balance yes, that is what this is about, the struggle for balance.

is different.. Half my ancestry is German. My grandfather used to joke that the only phrase he used during WWI was "Hande Hoch!" (hands up). The krauts over here are OVER HERE becuase they didn't like it OVER THERE. They are Americans, not krauts, and all the bunds and crap dissolved the moment war was declared.

You are correct. T.R was indeed a "20th Century Progressive", and a hero of both Hillary Clinton and John McCain. That alone should set off alarms as to the nature of those in power currently. Study your history and see what has occured, and who was responsible. Hitler didn't just jump in, take over, and start killing Jews. It took decades. Care to witness history repeat it self? Do nothing, say nothing, and keep your eyes to the ground, and it is sure to happen. WAKE UP!

Thank you for allowing your emotions to take over in this debate. This is a perfect demonstration of why liberalism/progressivism/socialism will always fail. There was no attempt on my part to compare Obama's push for healthcare reform to that of the Nazi Holocaust, yet you take the words "far more insidious" to mean just that. It's not JUST about healthcare, it's about the slow takeover of our nation in small steps. Wake up and look around. The PROGRESSIVES are taking over, and you refuse to see it.
