'Moonlight' concert will help needy children

Date published: 10/11/2009

On behalf of the Salvation Army's Women's Auxiliary, we would like to give heartfelt thanks to all who participated in our annual "Music By Moonlight" concert on Sept. 12 at Hurkamp Park.

We were greatly pleased to learn that The Free Lance-Star wanted to do a feature story in the Weekender about the history of the concert, its goal, and the Fredericksburg Big Band's participation.

We think this contributed to our record turnout.

Each year, 100 percent of those proceeds go to send disadvantaged children from the surrounding areas to the Salvation Army summer camp in Richardsville, Va.

After having recently visited the camp, I wish I were a kid again. You all have helped us carry out the Salvation Army's motto, "Doing the Most Good."
