'School of the Month' thanks Borders

Each month at Borders, a local school is selected as the "School of the Month." Store patrons are encouraged to purchase books to be donated to that school.

In August, Spotsylvania County's Robert E. Lee Elementary School was the School of the Month.

In September, 26 boxes of books worth nearly $10,000 were delivered to our school, all of which were donated through Borders by our very generous local residents.

These books will augment our library collection and will be distributed to classrooms.

We are overwhelmed by the kindness of those in our community who, like us, share a love of books and understand the importance of reading in the lives of children.

On behalf of the entire faculty at R.E. Lee, we'd like to say "Thank you" to Borders' patrons for your generosity.

We are also especially grateful to Ron Burch and his staff at the Central Park Borders store for promoting literacy in this fashion.
