Doesn't Deeds have better things to promote than gun loopholes? Date published: 10/15/2009
Creigh Deeds perpetuates the mind-set and ongoing crusade of Mayor Bloomberg of New York City against gun show loopholes. Before wanting to close them, Mr. Deeds should first gather facts that definitely substantiate their presence. Otherwise, he'd actually be better off strategizing his political rhetoric covering promotion of small-business entrepreneurship, creation of incentives that deter employment of undocumented immigrants by unscrupulous employers, and, prohibition or exclusion of political opinions in our elementary- and intermediate-school systems. You heros and your guns. More like someone is either going steal your gun, or take it away from you and shoot you with it. After the bad guys take your guns, they sell them up in DC or Philly. Either that or you kill yourself or your wife with it, or your kids shoot themselves. Meanwhile the flood of ASSAULT WEAPONS (thanks you Republican Congress) is arming Mexican drug gangs. Ain't it great to have such a WELL REGULATED MILITIA - please protect (shaaa, right, more like duck and cover).
are designed primarily to keep weapons out of the hands of criminals, crazies, convicted felons and others who cannot responsibly own or use a weapon.
If somehow there were no weapons manufactured or imported into the USA, and generally were made illegal. the nuts, the criminals and the well connected would all have guns illegally. And the rest of us would not. I guess we have to sneak up on the bad guys from behind and hit them with a rock...unless they shoot us first.....
Olivia55, I suppose you think the DC gun laws were and current laws are, good laws. You may want to read the amicus briefs that were written for the Heller decision. It is a good history lesson. You may also want to follow the next in the 2nd Amendment cases: McDonald v. Chicago, which is about incorporation of the 2nd Amend. by the 14th Amend. and should find Chicago's gun laws unconstitutional.
I am a 'Nam combat veteran. That's enough for you to know about me and what I have done and seen. I appreciate your questions (usually). They make me look at my own ideology and defend its logic. Olivia has never witnessed a shooting. I dare say her life has never been seriously threatened; but she is willing to dictate how the rest of us may not defend our lives. She fears her own inadequacies to defend herself. Misery loves company.
