Jean Myers Hawkins
Jean Myers Hawkins, 79, of Culpeper went to be in the presence of the Lord Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009.
Jean was born Oct. 10, 1930, in Culpeper County, to John Lesley Myers and Nellie Eunice Taylor Myers. She was the widow of Louis Earl Hawkins.
Jean was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and caregiver for her family and friends; loved traveling; and was a member of the Hopewell United Methodist Church and the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving Jean are her daughters, Cheryl Melanson and her husband, Don, and Sheila Smith and her husband, Steve, all of Culpeper; her siblings Evelyn Raines of Fredericksburg, Rose Mary Cash of Burlington, N.C., and Harold Myers of Lignum; her grandchildren: Bonni Jeann Neff and her husband, Jason, Danielle Compton and her husband, Paul, Rory Melanson, Timothy Edwards II, Candice Myers and her husband, Eddie, Garrett Edwards, Lauren Edwards and her fiance, Nelson Davis Jr., Steve Smith and his wife, Shannon, Autumn Smith and her husband, Bobby, Stephanie Haynes and her husband, David, and Allen Smith; and 24 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband and her siblings Juanita Brown, Jack Myers, Ralph Myers, Murrel "Buster" Myers, Lottie Hackley and Helen Bosworth.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, in the chapel of Clore-English Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens, 4160 Rixeyville Road, Jeffersonton, Va. 22724, with the Rev. Ron Young conducting the service.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at Clore-English Funeral Home, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, Va. 22701.
