Virginia S. Eagar, 90, of Bowling Green, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at Memorial Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Eagar, a beloved mother and grandmother, was the widow of Robert G. Eagar. She was a member of Bowling Green Baptist Church and was a 50-year charter member and the first treasurer of the Eastern Star Chapter 174. She graduated from Longwood College and began her teaching career in Halifax County, and retired from the Caroline County public school system after 35 years.
Survivors include her two sons, Dr. Robert G. Eagar Jr. and his wife, Dana, of Canton, Ga., and William R. Eagar and his wife, Buni, of Chesterfield; a brother, Louis Smith and his wife, Joy, of Danville; five grandchildren, Robyn DePoint of Middleton, Conn., Kristine Wells of Waterbury Conn., Robert Y. Eagar of Canton, Ga., Ryan Daniels of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Tanner Daniels of Chesterfield; a great-grandson, Owen DePoint; and two dear friends, Yvonne Moffett and Betty Schools.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, in the chapel of Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, with the Rev. Kevin Moen officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Bowling Green. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at the funeral home.
