Pollard has lead in House fund drive
Pollard has big lead in money in 99th District House race
Date published: 10/17/2009

BY FRANK DELANO

Incumbent Del. Albert Pollard, D-Lancaster, has significantly more money on hand than his opponent Catherine Crabill, R-White Stone, as their campaigns near Election Day for the 99th District seat in the House of Delegates.

According to campaign finance reports filed Thursday with the State Board of Elections for the month of September, Pollard had $23,218 in the bank at month's end compared to Crabill's $2,603.

During September, Pollard received $24,809 in contributions, including $20,600 from 85 contributors of $100 or more. Crabill's contributions totaled $2,970, with four contributions of $100 or more.

Crabill's largest September contribution was $1,000 from Roderich and Beth Parker of Montross.

Pollard had eight contributors of $1,000 or more, including Robert Crown of Kinsale and Jane Wells of Irvington. Altria Client Services, Norfolk Southern Corp. and the Realtors Political Action Committee gave Pollard a total of $4,250.

Pollard spent $17,973 on his campaign in September, compared with Crabill's $1,387.

Pollard is seeking his fifth term in the House of Delegates. Crabill, a conservative Republican, has been shunned by the state Republican party and several GOP leaders because of her unorthodox statements.

The district includes King George, Lancaster, Northumberland, Richmond and Westmoreland counties, plus the Bowling Green and Port Royal precincts of Caroline County. Election Day is Nov. 3.

"Unorthodox statements" (posted by AtackDuck , Oct. 17, 2009 11:44 am)    0 likes
Quoting Jefferson, Madison, and Monroe are now considered "unorthodox statements" by the press and Republican leadership. The way the Va. Republican leadership has treated Crabill is despicable and cowardly. That said. Pollard has done and continues to do, a fine job voting to protect our rights and environment, primarily the Chesapeake and tributaries. I'm voting for Pollard.
