Teen charged in store theft
Man in trouble again over petty theft
Date published: 10/22/2009

BY KEITH EPPS

A man who was arrested last week for stealing compressed air is in trouble again--this time over a $3.99 can of Red Bull.

First Sgt. Liz Scott, a Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman, said Deputy C. Carey went to the 7-Eleven on Leavells Road Tuesday night in response to a reported shoplifting.

The owner said two men entered the store about 8:45 p.m. and picked up cold drinks. One man paid for his tea, while the other stuffed a can of Red Bull, an energy drink, into his waistband, the owner told authorities.

According to Scott, as the men were leaving the store, the owner called out to the man who hadn't paid. The suspect jumped into his vehicle and backed up, nearly striking the cashier.

The passenger door then swung open as he moved forward, scraping a Cadillac Escalade that was parked in an adjacent spot. The suspect then left the parking lot, leaving behind his friend, who had just opened the passenger door when the vehicle was put in reverse.

Scott said police identified the suspect as 19-year-old Geremy Michael Tillery of Spotsylvania.

Tillery was charged with felony hit-and-run, attempted malicious wounding, shoplifting and driving on a suspended license. He was placed in Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond after turning himself in at the magistrate's office.

Tillery was charged with shoplifting in Fredericksburg Oct. 13 following an incident that began after police said he stole four cans of compressed air from the Walmart in Central Park. He and another teenager were arrested after the car they left in got stuck in heavy traffic.

Seems like he'll steal anything, that hasn't been nailed down. I'm glad I don't live near, or next door to the theft.
