Steaven E. Paige
Steaven E. Paige, the son of the late Junius and Lucy Paige, expired Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, in Peekskill, N.Y. A graduate of Union High School in Bowling Green and Virginia State University, he taught English with distinction at Mary M. Bethune High School in Halifax County for six years. After moving to New York, he was employed with the New York City Department of Social Services as a caseworker, and later as deputy director, retiring after 29 years of service. At Lebanon Baptist Church in Peekskill, he held the positions of chairman of the finance committee and vice-chairman of trustees for 20 years. Memories of his life will be cherished by his wife, Veronica A. Paige; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Eugene, Gregory (Bernadette) and Edwin; three granddaughters; a brother, Oliver L. Paige (Frances); a sister, Lucy P. Grant; a stepson, David Arthur; and numerous nephews, nieces and friends. A celebration of life was held Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Antioch Baptist Church in Peekskill, N.Y.
