GOP will keep business in and BPOL out

GOP will keep business in and BPOL out

We now have a very important job of electing half of Stafford's Board of Supervisors. The current majority has done a fantastic job of moving our county backward the last two years.

The Democratic majority has voted to give themselves a 25 percent pay raise, disband the Transportation Committee, erode property rights, and pass the BPOL tax, which many counties are now getting rid of because of resulting negative business effects.

The Republican candidates oppose the BPOL tax. They will not impose additional monetary burdens.

Two years ago, our teachers were the highest paid in the region. Republicans understand that Stafford needs to attract the best teachers if we want to have the best schools.

The Republicans will also work to improve our transportation infrastructure and restore our Comprehensive Plan, which guides the future development of our county, to be more commercially friendly. A booming commercial sector will reduce the tax burden on homeowners.

Vote for Susan Stimpson, Paul Milde, Mark Dudenhefer, and Gary Snellings.

Brody Black

R party ignores facts (posted by DeanFetterolf , Oct. 24, 2009 10:58 pm)    0 likes
The R party choses to ignore the facts on may issues when it does not match their "view". You can ignore the facts but that does not change them.

and as pointed out (posted by Ron_C , Oct. 24, 2009 9:19 pm)    0 likes
Stafford not having it has not resulted in businesses fleeing Spotsy and PW to head to Stafford, so the "Sky is falling crowd" are full of it with their claims that businesses will shut down or leave Stafford when BPOL takes effect. Prices won't be jacked up cause of market forces, after all Prices in Sposty aren't any higher despite having had BPOL, just like gas wasn't cheaper in spotsy despite not having the added tax for VRE.

BPOL growth (posted by DeanFetterolf , Oct. 24, 2009 4:16 pm)    0 likes
BPOL revenue grew for 14 straight years in Spotsy, Fred and PrWm that means it did not hurt business. Business grew, prospered, thrived, created jobs and sales tax revenue

Something other than PW and Spotsy (posted by ReadingOne , Oct. 24, 2009 1:35 pm)    0 likes
which should not be the counties to set the bar or example. BPOL brings in @ 3% of revenue to those counties and that revenue is projected to drop. Also they have established guidelines for abatement and reduction as well. If Stafford should be the leader, fine, but don't use neighboring, and budgetary failing, counties as examples. At your suggestion Stafford should be the trend setter... not the behind the times follower.

Now if Spotsy has BPOL and Stafford hasn't had it yet (posted by Ron_C , Oct. 24, 2009 11:29 am)    0 likes
then why isn't it less espensive to shop in Stafford than it is in Spotsy? Could it be that Stafford has been paying it all along, only it was going into the business owners pocket since they were setting prices based on the competing market. Thats the argument the Stafford folks were using for Spotsy to add a tax to join the VRE ponzi scheme. Hypocrites.
