Getrude D. Ferrell
Gertrude D. Ferrell passed away peacefully Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at Hearts at Home in King George after a courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. Ferrell had just celebrated her 92nd birthday on Oct. 12. She was a life member of Round Hill Baptist Church, having joined in 1926. She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Bernard Ferrell. Together, they owned and operated the King George Body Shop. She also served as postal clerk for the U.S. Post Office for 33 years and was a life-long member of the King George Volunteer Fire Department. She is survived by two children, Joan B. Ferrell and Rodney B. Ferrell and his wife, Barbara, all of King George. She also leaves behind four grandchildren: Michael Motley, Anna Langrehr and husband Barry, Ernie Lopez and Shelley Ferrell; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, King George. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, at Round Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ted James officiating, and burial in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Round Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, Box 467, King George, Va. 22485; Sgt. Nicholas C. Over the years, Gertrude enjoyed cooking and baking, and spent many days handwriting her own cookbooks. She was a good and faithful friend to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
