Daniel W. Hudson, 65, of Ruther Glen passed away Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at Retreat Hospital in Richmond, following a long illness.
He was a longtime member of Goshen Baptist Church. Daniel was also a member of the American Legion in Spotsylvania County and a previous member of Rough Riders Riding Club. He rode on the professional rodeo circuit for approximately 10 years.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Linda Hudson; his children, Brenda Shepherd of Fredericksburg, Kimberly Fitzgerald and her husband, Thomas, of Spotsylvania, Jacquline Hill and her husband, Jody, of Port Orange, Fla., Matthew Watson and Laurie Hornburger and Debra L. Miller and her husband, Rodney, all of Spotsylvania, Lisa Hudson of Stafford County. and Matthew Hudson of Fredericksburg; seven grandchildren; and two brothers, Ollie Hudson and his wife, Connie, of Belton, Ky., and Richard Hudson and his wife, Donna, of Charlottesville.
Daniel's family will receive friends from 10:30 to noon Monday, Oct. 26, at Goshen Baptist Church. A funeral service celebrating Daniel's life will begin at noon at the church, with the Rev. William Dodson officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Daniel's family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hospice of Virginia, 7231 Forrest Ave., No. 100, Richmond, Va. 23226.
