William W. Curtiss
William W. Curtiss, 76, of Fredericksburg, formerly of Rockville, Md., passed away Friday, Oct. 23, 2009. Bill served in the Navy during the Korean War, was a highly decorated D.C. firefighter for 23 years, including the U.S. Gold Medal of Valor. Bill retired from D.C. Metro where he led the Fire Safety and Training. His most honored role was beloved husband of 50 years of Ada DeVries Curtiss, father of Stephen Curtiss and his wife, Hope, of Modesto, Calif., Joseph Curtiss of Fredericksburg, James Curtiss and his wife, Betsy, of Fredericksburg, Kathleen Curtiss Molloy and her husband, John, of Berlin, Md., and Phillip Curtiss of Helena, Mont. Mr. Curtiss is also survived by his 11 grandchildren and his great-granddaughter. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, at Pumphrey's Colonial Funeral Home, 300 West Montgomery Ave., Rockville, Md. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rockville, Md. Memorial contributions may be made to D.C.
