Vote 'no' on Stafford BPOL; vote Republican
The prospect that Stafford County will give up its nearly unique position as a business-friendly address in 2010 through the implementation of the BPOL tax ought to cause deep concern in every resident, regardless of political persuasion. BPOL is a ridiculously contrived tax, based only on gross receipts, ignoring the costs of doing business or the success of the business. Based on logic that defies understanding, those favoring BPOL suggest that "business must pay its way." They ignore the fact that every Stafford County business The travesty that is BPOL will descend on Stafford County unless voters re-elect Paul Milde and Mark Dudenhefer, and elect Susan Stimpson and Gary Snellings. Frederic N. Howe III Stafford
remember that you're probably voting yourself an increase in
your real estate tax. That BPOL tax will cost consumers virtually
NOTHING. Businesses pay BPOL in our adjacent counties and
I actually do MORE shopping there than here and trust me, I
see no higher prices there than here.
Here is ONE vote that Dudenhefer won't get. A large portion of Stafford voters wanted him to stop the influx of illegal immigrants. He and others like him decided to hold off on doing anything to a review was done. What did they do, sat on it. After all the reviews that Prince William County did didn't enlighten him, he wanted to waste more money. You want to talk taxes, talk to those who aren't paying taxes of any kind.
Vote no on the BPOL and vote for the repubs - they are the party of "No" after all.....
While no one likes taxes the BPOL would cost a '1 million dollar revenue' company $800 in taxes. BOS has made an effort to maintain property tax rate for a few years now, costs have gone up ... where does one propose additional revenue?
