The prospect that Stafford County will give up its nearly unique position as a business-friendly address in 2010 through the implementation of the BPOL tax ought to cause deep concern in every resident, regardless of political persuasion.
BPOL is a ridiculously contrived tax, based only on gross receipts, ignoring the costs of doing business or the success of the business.
Based on logic that defies understanding, those favoring BPOL suggest that "business must pay its way." They ignore the fact that every Stafford County business
The travesty that is BPOL will descend on Stafford County unless voters re-elect Paul Milde and Mark Dudenhefer, and elect Susan Stimpson and Gary Snellings.
