Media bias may be the most important issue of all
I'm not sure if Viewpoints Editor Karen Owen thinks that left-wing media bias doesn't exist, or that if it does exist it's no big deal. Either way, she is sorely mistaken ["Big crybabies are trying to distract us," Oct. 25]. Anyone who cannot see the liberal bias in the mainstream media today is either lying or not paying attention. Here are but two of numerous examples that occur every day. President Obama and his administration are intentionally trying to de-legitimize Fox News as a credible news organization, and there is barely a peep from ABC, CBS, NBC, or CNN. Can you imagine if Karl Rove had tried to marginalize CNN? All we would have heard would have been cries, and rightfully so, of violation of the First Amendment by the White House. In 1982, when unemployment reached 9.4 percent under President Reagan, only stories of gloom and doom could be found in the media with regard to the economy. In 2009, when unemployment is at the same level or worse, there is no lack of news reports on all the jobs being saved and that times really aren't so bad. Different eras, different journalists? Well, Charles Gibson of ABC news 27 years ago found "no good news" in the unemployment rate, but the same level of joblessness led him to report on Aug. 7 that "the economy may finally be turning the corner." Ms. Owen says we have many more important issues to worry about than media bias. Untrue. This is why media bias is important. If the sources of our news are not telling us the facts and are blatantly skewed one way, we who are going about our daily lives making the country work will not have the knowledge to make intelligent choices when it's time to vote. We expect political advertising to be slanted one way; we don't expect supposedly hard news coverage to be. Joe Mangin Stafford

I don't know where old Raymaylyn is, but whereever he is, I wish him the best. I watched him and some of the others go back and forth in here. He would get them so tied up all they could do was call him "a liar" and put their hands over their eyes and ears and scream "stop, I don't want to hear it." Anyway, rumor has it old Ray was banned from these hallowed halls for being crude and calling people names and stuff. I cannot believe someone would have gotten him banned. Anyway, I hope he returns soon.
I can't believe anyone with any sense left her off the leash. Oh, nobody sensible did, she's part of the new GOP. 5 times (at 5 schools!) to get through a bachelor of arts (journalism, even)? Sheesh, that's as bad as taking five draft deferments. nawlins, I think you are right about rae - what a sweetie he was. Maybe he's having lunch with pub and the rest of sybil (yet another pseudonym).
Even though this Levi dude that is Bristol's baby's daddy is trashy, I believe him 100% when he talks about Sarah. He said that she would threaten that flunky downtrodden husband of hers all the time with divorce. The story about Caribou Barbie ain't over yet. She is a classic. Can you imagine her on "Meet the Press" or another venue where she could get really grilled. Screw those little league questions Couric asked her, how about economic downturn forcasts, world politics, world leaders, etc.
Who knows. Where is concernedone, where is somecommonsense. Where is True_Bob, where is my beloved raymaelynn. Someone said raymaelynn was the victim of an unfortunate "schmelting" accident. I really miss raymaelynn. He may have been the smartest human being on the face of the planet and I guarantee you he is handsome too.
