Flying Machines' self-described "modern classic rock" is just that. The band's debut album is amazing, and it demonstrates the band's ability to play diverse music.
Flying Machines has been recognized in contests like Converse's "Get Out of the Garage" in 2008, and the band even had its songs used in promos for USA's television series "Psych."
The main sound on the album is an upbeat rock. The band sounds modern, but one can definitely feel the classic rock influences; sometimes it sounds similar to The Beatles.
No matter what the influence, though, Flying Machines is just brilliant.
Guitarist John Wlaysewski brings a little bit of a darker feel to the music, without overpowering it, creating a perfect complement to vocalist William George.
The guitar takes a back seat to the lyrics on some songs, but on most, it can't be hidden.
Though at times, the band is reminiscent of The Strokes, or even Foo Fighters, its music is still unique.
