Stop us before we spend again Date published: 11/1/2009
IS THERE such a thing as an addiction to government spending? Maybe--some in Washington seem to be tipsy with it. With the federal deficit for last year alone topping a record $1.42 trillion, Democrats in Congress are steamrolling ahead with a health care reform package that they're trying to bring in under $1 trillion. President Obama is saying that a "consensus is building" is favor of climate-change legislation, which The Heritage Foundation says will cost America $400 billion per year. And now The New York Times is arguing that another stimulus is in order. Meanwhile, the old stimulus hasn't created quite the number of jobs the government has claimed. The Obama administration says the $787 billion injection has created 30,000 jobs, but a review of the first progress report reveals that number has been overstated by several thousands. One contractor, for example, reported that stimulus funds allowed him to create 4,231 jobs--but most of them lasted five weeks or less. Somebody needs to start a Government Anonymous program for Washingtonians heady on spending your tax dollars.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, America as a whole are the worst fiscally aware country in the industrialized world. As well, personal finance is horrific. Republicans act as though they are this fiscally responsible, accountable, party of people That is about as far from the truth at it comes. Simply look at history under Republican administrations and see what happened. There have only been two administrations in 60 yeas to balance their budget, Clinton and Johnson. Regan was the worst.
Where were all thes people when a year or 2 ago? I don't agree with all Obama and his admin. are doing, by any means, but I didn't agree with Bush either. It's like all these people JUST started paying attention.
are Republicans... who don't mind screwing over other folks
in the name of "business".
Leroy and Curtis last worked for the Bush Administration
financing 2 wars and Medicare Part D on the "mule" plan.
Now we've got Obama and the Bush folks who stood by
silently while their guy screwed the country over have
suddenly got fiscal conservative religion.
They have no answers other than to de-regulate and let the
banking industry run the economy and then when it goes to
hell in a hand basket, blame someone else
"My Lord, didn't anyone complain?" Curtis said, "Well, the feller who won got upset. So we gave him his two dollars back." ............ Curtis and Leroy now work for the Obama administration and are overseeing the Bailout and Stimulus Programs. (Rumor has it the dead mule has been registered to vote as a Democrat by ACORN, is a union member with SEIU, is collecting social security, unemployment insurance, medicare and disability. His rights are being protected by the ACLU).
Curtis said, "We gonna raffle him off." The farmer said, "You can't raffle off a dead mule!" Leroy said, "We shore can! Heck, we don't hafta tell nobody he's dead!" A couple of weeks later, the farmer ran into Curtis & Leroy at the Piggly Wiggly grocery store and asked. "What'd you fellers ever do with that dead mule?" They said, "We raffled him off like we said we wuz gonna do." Leroy said, "Shucks, we sold 500 tickets fer two dollars apiece and made a profit of $898." The farmer said,
