We can't afford this health care plan
We need health care reform, but our answers are not found in HR 3200. This plan will end the Medicare Advantage, reduce access to health care, and diminish quality of care. Employers will bear increasing costs of health insurance, essentially forcing them to choose the public option. Families will share the burden, as well. Estimates are that a family of four making $60,000 per year will pay an additional $7,000 in taxes to cover the public option. The plan is being pushed through the Senate in a manner similar to the strategy employed with the bailout. Representatives have not had a chance to review the lengthy document and are expected to make an informed vote. Taxpayers are not even being given an opportunity to review the plan's details. Most of us do not support the content of HR 3200. The plan will reduce Medicare benefits, increase our taxes, ration health care, and shrink health insurance options. Shockingly, the public option requires coverage of abortion for any reason, even mandating that private insurance companies do the same. Why are taxpayers being forced to pay for an elective procedure that most Americans consider morally wrong? The government ought to stay in the business of governing and not try to take over each industry. First it was autos, then banking, and now it's health care. Please contact your representatives to let them know that the voice of the majority is not being heard. Caroline Conneen Stafford
I agree completely. It's a sad state of affairs and a strong argument for voting out EVERY incumbent until some things start changing. We the people need to stop voting on party lines (I for one never have) and start voting for the change we want to see. Politicians will do anything to save themselves. If we start voting out some of these bozos, maybe something will get done. But as Dennis Miller says, "that's just my opinion, I could be wrong."
solved something, the parties would lose an issue to bicker about. Rs had all three branches for 6 years, did they do squat about abortion? Did they really DO anything about illegal immigration? Of course not, if they complete something, they can't smear Teh Other with it.
I'm confident in this prediction-HR 3200 won't pass, just like the other proposals havent. The do nothing Congress and White House will just keep posturing and bickering back and forth. Eventually, we'll wind up with some additonal insurance regulations if we're lucky and an enhaced Medicaid Program that won't help uninsured/underinsured Middle Class folks because they don't qualify for welfare. Of course the middle class will get to pay for it all. Business as usual it Washington DC.
correct in his assertion about health care costs. The ONLY way I could foresee health care costs coming under true control would be a single payer telling all providers of health care what they can charge, & how much compensation they can receive. Even with the most radical of health care reforms, the sky will always be the limit I fear with any US health care looking much like it does today.
reducing costs. Really? Bought any gasoline lately? What a strange coincidence that ALL the gas ALWAYS costs about the same to us, no matter who sells it. And how strange that it always costs more in summer. It's almost as if they control the supply. I just read last week how another refinery was shut down. Don't think greed-driven executives can't jigger around with health care supply either.
