We can't afford this health care plan

We need health care reform, but our answers are not found in HR 3200.

This plan will end the Medicare Advantage, reduce access to health care, and diminish quality of care. Employers will bear increasing costs of health insurance, essentially forcing them to choose the public option.

Families will share the burden, as well. Estimates are that a family of four making $60,000 per year will pay an additional $7,000 in taxes to cover the public option.

The plan is being pushed through the Senate in a manner similar to the strategy employed with the bailout. Representatives have not had a chance to review the lengthy document and are expected to make an informed vote. Taxpayers are not even being given an opportunity to review the plan's details.

Most of us do not support the content of HR 3200. The plan will reduce Medicare benefits, increase our taxes, ration health care, and shrink health insurance options.

Shockingly, the public option requires coverage of abortion for any reason, even mandating that private insurance companies do the same. Why are taxpayers being forced to pay for an elective procedure that most Americans consider morally wrong?

The government ought to stay in the business of governing and not try to take over each industry. First it was autos, then banking, and now it's health care.

Please contact your representatives to let them know that the voice of the majority is not being heard.
