Church, mall made Halloween happy

Last weekend, I saw what Halloween was meant to represent--children playing games, having fun, family involvement, and last but not least, Halloween candy.

The Spotsylvania Towne Centre was packed with Spotswood Baptist Church members sponsoring games for children of all ages.

Church members gave of their time to make it possible for the hundreds of children and family members to enjoy a safe and happy Halloween. Although it rained and some activities were brought inside, it didn't dampen any of the Halloween spirit.

It was amazing that everything was free. I appreciated all of the work that probably went into planning this huge event. A big "thank you" goes to the Spotsylvania Towne Centre merchants, WFLS, Chick-Fil-A, Turkey Hill Ice Cream, and others.

I hope this event will be repeated next year, and maybe even more churches and merchants can join the fun.

Three years ago, my son went to the mall for Halloween. It was very quiet; trick-or-treating was almost nonexistent that night.

I thank everyone involved for bringing back the spirit of Halloween to the Spotsylvania Towne Centre. My son is already planning next year's trip to the Halloween Festival.
