More H1N1 vaccine arrives in the Fredericksburg area Date published: 11/5/2009
BY JIM HALL The Rappahannock Area Health District received H1N1 vaccine yesterday, and some of it was destined for children's arms and noses last night. The health district received 3,200 doses of both the injectable and nasal-mist varieties yesterday. Last night, the vaccine went to Massaponax High in Spotsylvania County and Mountain View High in Stafford County. Today, it is being given at King George Middle School and Holy Cross Academy in Stafford. A clinic last night at Lafayette Upper Elementary in Fredericksburg was supplied from an earlier shipment. In the Three Rivers Health District, Colonial Beach Elementary will offer nasal-mist flu vaccine for its K-7 students beginning at "The schools really need to be given a tremendous amount of credit here," said Dr. John Petrasky, the Rappahannock region's health director. "The whole goal is to get this into kids ASAP." Jim Hall: 540/374-5433
I also attended Massaponax shot clinic last night and was VERY impressed by the organization of the whole operation. I arrived late and was worried about not getting vaccinated. We were in the upper 600's and were in and out in less than 40 minutes, with not many coming in after us. Thank you to all the staff from the schools volunteering their time for this.
I was at the MHS clinic last night to get my two kids vaccinated. I was very impressed with how organized things were. We were in and out in 90 minutes with nearly 400 people ahead of us. I also saw many people I recognized, both teachers and nurses, from the schools volunteering their time. Thanks to all and well done.
