CAN OFFENSE STEP IT UP?

The Redskins' offense has to be better all-around. From Campbell's decision making, throwing accuracy and poise in the pocket, to the offensive line's blocking to receivers getting open. With two weeks to prepare for today, there must be signs of improvement. Head coach Jim Zorn took the bye week to analyze the Redskins' offense and look for trends in specific situations. Any tinkering with the offensive scheme for the second half of the season must emerge today.

DAVIS MUST DELIVER

This matchup provides a compelling contrast in tight ends. Atlanta features future Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez, while Fred Davis makes his first appearance as a first-stringer for the Redskins. Expect Gonzalez and the Falcons to test rookie linebacker Brian Orakpo in coverage more than Orakpo has been. He'll likely need help from the strong safety. Meanwhile, Davis must pass block better to truly capitalize on his opportunity to start.

TIME FOR SOME TAKEAWAYS

The Redskins' defense has gone two games without forcing a turnover. It's hard to blame the defense for Washington's lack of point production, but the offense simply needs more help. Atlanta QB Matt Ryan has thrown nine interceptions this season, and the Redskins must get in on the fun--and someone other than CB DeAngelo Hall. FS LaRon Landry has been too quiet. If he ever wants to be grouped with Ed Reed or Troy Polamalu, he has to start making some plays.
