Hollis Virginia Shelton
Hollis Virginia Shelton, 90, passed away Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Shelton was born Oct. 7, 1919, in Arlington, and was the daughter of the late Christopher and Mae Havener Hurley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Shelton Sr.; three brothers; and three sisters. Survivors include two sons, Ronald J. Shelton of Bumpass and Gordon Shelton Jr. of Unionville; two daughters, Patricia Burdette and her husband, Doyle, of Manassas, and Sandra Breese and her husband, Thomas, of King George County. Eight grandchildren, 10 great- grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren also survive her. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Cunningham Funeral Home in Alexandria, where a funeral will begin immediately following the visitation at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Mount Comfort Cemetery, Alexandria.
