Gen X will embrace gay marriage
I found The Free Lance-Star's editorial concerning our state attorney general-elect's bigotry towards homosexuals amusing ["The Post & the AG," Nov. 8]. Your stance--that he The editorial's babbling on about the feelings of religious majorities, jurisprudence, and the supposed inability of persons-of-color to discriminate against others is also weak. Level of support of a belief does not guarantee its certainty. I'll remind The Free Lance-Star of this: Current census data indicates that Generation X will overtake baby boomers in population sometime in 2010. Therefore, the current state of opinion in the country where baby boomers roughly oppose homosexual marriage by 65 percent will slowly shift to that of Generation X, which favors it by almost the same percentage. Talk all you want about "most Americans," "natural law," and "foundational jurisprudence," all the nation's beliefs will evolve over the next decade to reflect a new public opinion that gives couples of the same sex the same rights as me and my wife--as will orthodoxy, Patrick Smith Spotsylvania
When I was in basic training under Harry S. Truman, we also were told to not drop the soap, and the floor was littered with stuck soap. I wonder if the soap you saw was the soap we left ...ah...behind.

That was good advice but caused a lot of extra work on the latrine guys what with all that soap stuck to the floors...
Things like the Don't Ask, Don't Tell Policy and getting ENDA passed are more basic rights issues that should be the priority. And Mr. Obama promised gays that he would make these things happen if elected. He hasn't delivered, or even attempted to deliver, and he gets away with it! Astounding. Why gays think he's their friend is beyond me. He's not as openly hostile as Bush, he's done nothing to help gays. He's just made patronizing speeches promising action.
You have a right to worry about marriage beteen 2 men or 2 women, and their inability to multiply. In fact, today, most Japanese only can multiply with a hand held calculator.
Note that when in 1965 Japan passed the Defense of Gay Marriage, No Children, and Pachinko Sex Act, the Japanes Diet (not fish) never imagined that the country would ALL turn gay and stop breeding. Today, the average age in Japan is 89, the economy is shot, and incontinence is a way of life. Don't let them fool you, Granny, U R Right
