George H. Sparks Jr., 78, of Fredericksburg died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at his home.
Mr. Sparks was a member of New Life in Christ Church. He had retired from Quantico Marine Corps Base after 20 years of service.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Nadine Ferris Sparks; his brother, Donald R. Sparks and his wife, Louise, of Fredericksburg; two sisters, Louise S. Apperson and her husband, John, of Fredericksburg and Mary Alice Vanderhoof and her husband, LeRoy, of Boonville, Mo.; his nieces and nephews, Dennis Apperson, Monica A. Perrin, James, Winston, Dean and Christopher Vanderhoof, Patricia Wilkerson, Martin Sparks and Donnell Pitts; and special friends Mike and Judy Danaher and their nine children, Sarah, Peter, Taylor, Amie, Carter, Sean, Colin, Elsie and Jedahiah.
A memorial service will be held at noon Monday, Nov. 16, at New Life in Christ Church. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
