Sheldon A. Gathers

Sheldon Andrew Gathers, 27, of Rimersburg, Pa., died of injuries suffered in a traffic accident in Bedford, Pa., on Thursday morning, Nov. 12, 2009.

He was born Nov. 20, 1981, in Clarion, Pa., and was the son of Sharon and Leo Gathers of Fredericksburg and Arthur L. Gross of Strattanville, Pa.

Mr. Gathers was of the Protestant faith and was a graduate of the Union School District's Class of 2000, and also attended school in Fredericksburg while living there. He enjoyed all sports, fishing and watching ESPN.

Most recently, he was a carpet and floor installer and was a machinist student at the New Castle School of Trades in Pulaski, Pa.

He is survived by his daughter, Emily Jewell of Rimersburg, Pa.; his sons, Evan Gathers and Noah Gathers, both of Hubbard, Ohio; maternal grandparents Carl and Mary Best of Rimersburg, Pa.; paternal grandmothers Sally Gathers of Sligo, Pa., and Jane Summerville of Curllsville, Pa.; his brother, Michael Gathers and Casey Purcell of Spotsylvania County; four sisters, Shelly Eaglin and husband David of Spotsylvania, Stacey Boles of Lima, Ohio, and Josie Gross and Tara Gross, both of Strattanville, Pa.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at Hillis Funeral Home in Rimersburg, with the funeral to be held there at 2 p.m. Tuesday, with Pastor Larry Forsythe of Country Gospel, Callensburg, and the Rev. Gary Guntrum, pastor of Carwick Wesleyan Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Cedarville Memorial Park, Strattanville, Pa.

Memorial donations may be made to the Evan and Noah Gathers and Emily Jewell Education Fund, c/o Northwest Savings Bank, Rimersburg, Pa. 16248.
