Benefit for Bailey was a tremendous success

The Benefit for Bailey team would like to thank the supporters who helped make "Cancer Sucks: Party for a Purpose" a success.

The community response--which included food, auction items, and publicity--was overwhelming.

Bailey Bullock and her family attended the event. It was a joy for all who met them and heard them share how cancer has been a blessing in teaching them what is important in life: finding the good in all circumstances.

I would like to say a special thanks to the local vendors who assisted me in my part of the planning: Taco Bell, Pancho Villa, Foster's Grille, Qdoba, Papa John's, Old Country Buffet, Roma's, Virginia BBQ, and Powell's Furniture. Their generous donations, along with many others, made the evening fun for all.

The staff and members of the Elks Lodge were also a big help, especially the kitchen volunteers.

This was my first experience with such a large public event, and the positive response of so many has renewed my faith in the goodness of people.

If you are ever asked to help on a project like this, bless others and yourself by saying "yes."
