More health care reform horrors Date published: 11/17/2009
HERE ARE a few other stinkers in According to the nonpartisan Congressional Joint Tax Committee, "Americans who do not maintain acceptable health insurance coverage and who choose not to pay the bill's new individual mandate tax (generally 2.5 percent of income), are subject to numerous civil and criminal penalties, including criminal fines of up to $250,000 and imprisonment of up to five years." So, if you don't buy health insurance, you could go to jail. What's next? A forced march for those who decline flu shots? Buried in the bill is a "tort bomb," says The Wall Street Journal. The legislation provides incentives for states that pass "alternative medical liability laws," which provide for equitable resolution of malpractice complaints and reasonable malpractice insurance rates. The kicker? These incentives are not available to any state with a cap on damages or attorneys' fees in tort claims. Virginia, you're out. The chief actuary for The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services released a report on Saturday which indicates that the bill, which slashes $500 billion from Medicare spending to pay for health care reform, will sharply reduce benefits for many senior citizens, and could jeopardize access to health care by making it too expensive for many hospitals and nursing homes to take Medicare patients. Camille Paglia, hardly a right-winger, writes about the Pelosi bill in Salon: "[T]his rigid, intrusive, and grotesquely expensive bill is a nightmare. Holy Hygeia, why can't my fellow Democrats see that the creation of another huge, inefficient bureaucracy would slow and disrupt the delivery of basic healthcare and subject us all to a labyrinthine mass of incompetent, unaccountable petty dictators?" Why, indeed.
Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid. My goodness, if we would have only elected Caribou Barbie and McCaniac. Those of you who continue to talk about the Speaker of the House and Barney and Harry continue to sound like mindless idiots. You are lemmings who only want to hear and see what they want. Seriously, Caribou Barbie, Cheney, Bush, Rumsfeld, Beck, Rush, Hannity, Coulter. The list of your crippled leaders go on and on. It borders on sadness.
On one line YOu say You don't want to pay the tax for not being Insured, then You say that 2.5% will be giving to Those who do Not have Ins....That is a Contradiction.,,, Would not they To be Taxed for not having Ins.... I believe this Whole thing is Untrue and just another Frustrated Repubs twisted lie... Goof Try GOP, hahahaha
if I chose to self insure and pay all my medical expenses out of my pocket? I have big pockets because I have always worked smart and saved and invested my leftover cash.
But the gov wants my 2.5% so they can give it to the no tax paying non working, non savers and give them free healthcare. I do help and advocate for those incapable of making it on their own. The lazy and the leeches should be imprisoned in Cuba and get free healthcare from Castro Inc.
Your vehement denial that anyone would actually be imprisoned or fined is a stupid argument. Very few people get the death penalty, but it;s out there (even though I am sure you are both against that.) Sacha the attack on Paglia is disturbing. I could care less of she's a lesbian. She writes for a liberal organization and shares many of my points of view. I love it when libs make the "hate spewed" rants. If this is so goody, then why don't the House and Senate mandate their own coverage at the min.
about that one.
