Know your geography, especially this week! Date published: 11/17/2009
Geography Awareness Week was established in 1987 when President Reagan signed legislation establishing the third week in November as the time to showcase geographic education in the U.S.
This celebration is sponsored by the National Geographic Society, the Virginia Geographic Alliance, and many other regional and national organizations. There is a variety of things we can do, from family outings and reading an atlas, to listening to music from other cultures or even trying a foreign cuisine. One easy way to help promote geographic awareness is to take a virtual tour of the world with MyWonderfulWorld.org. This online resource is a National Geographic-led campaign to give kids the power of global knowledge. Geography Awareness Week continues to promote the importance of geography education in the United States. School-based activities and community programs help to show people the importance of geography within our community. By focusing on increasing geographic literacy and requesting more geography in schools, Americans can strive for success in our global, social, and economic activities. but would not let the inspectors see them. And, "Citizen," Obama thinks we have 57 states.
that they were there, Sadam used them on the Kurds. Or do you not consider gassing your nations own population to be something other than WMDs?
It amazes me how "supposed" educated people are so ignorant about the world. When the name Togo is mentioned, some will say, that was Dorothy's dog. IDIOT! When someone mentions Yugoslavia, they are unaware it no longer exists. People refuse to be exposed to things other than what is in their own backyard. I feel sorry for them, their children and our Nation as a whole. God I wish stupidity was painful!
Go back a little further, and I dropped bombs on Iraqis because your man Bill said they were there. I guess you forgot that. Or you were for it before you were against it?
Mr Bush said (and Mr Cheney "guaranteed) they were in Iraq. Sadly, seven years later, that does not seem to be the case. Shalll we stop dithering and get out our map and push pins and start the search once again?
