Thanks for support, Battlefield District

Thanks for support, Battlefield District

I want to take this opportunity to say a special "thank you" to the voters of the Battlefield District of Spotsylvania County for re-electing me to my fourth term as their representative on the Board of Supervisors.

As I prepare to enter my 11th year as your elected representative, I look forward to the task you have given me.

I would like to thank those who endorsed my re-election campaign (The Committee of 500, The Free Lance-Star, the Fredericksburg Area Association of Realtors, and the Spotsylvania Education Association).

My campaign would not have been the huge success that it was if it had not been for those who volunteered their time and energy to work on my behalf.

Those volunteers who made telephone calls, stuffed mailboxes, handed out fliers, wrote letters to the editor, and worked the polls on Election Day on my behalf were the backbone of my successful campaign.

Saying "thank you" to this wonderful group of supporters is clearly not enough.

Those who made financial contributions to my re-election campaign in these very difficult economic times also made this re-election opportunity a huge success. Their interest in my campaign was very much appreciated.

Once again, thank you to all who worked on my behalf.

Benjamin T. Pitts

Spotsylvania

Losing so sorely and bitterly is really unbecoming (posted by JamesTKirk , Nov. 22, 2009 10:06 pm)    0 likes
All that counts is the total number of votes, and in Spotsylvania, the 315 votes Pitts won by equals a nine point victory, a dominate win and clock cleaning -- just like Houck delivered to Yakabouski. Results here: https://www.voterinfo.sbe.virginia.gov/election/DATA/2009/3 7C2EDEB-FACB-44C1-AF70- 05FB616DCD62/UnOfficial/00_177_s.shtml So, if the Committee of 500 is really a committee of 50 Hap clones, does that mean the GOP committee is really a committee of 11 Genn Beck apostles? Bring on the Hapsters!

'huge success'? (posted by Blk97F150 , Nov. 20, 2009 6:07 am)    0 likes
You won by about 300 votes, and in fact lost the Fairview and Brents Mill Precincts. Thats hardly a "huge success". http://hamptonroads.com/newsdata/election/2009/results/locality/spotsylvania-county/race/spotsylvania-county-board-of-supervisors-battlefie#map Instead of gloating in 'victory', you should consider that many voted AGAINST you, and give thought to what you can to do make yourself more acceptable to the entire area you serve, not just the people who donated to your campaign

Financial Contributions? (posted by Torpedo72 , Nov. 19, 2009 12:27 pm)    0 likes
How about calling it what it is. Realtors, developers and C500 members buying an election. Where was Dan "The Dipsticks" incredible reporting when the people needed to know that his campaign had been bank rolled my these people? Has anyone weighed what they had to gain versus what was really beneficial to the residents of this county? Now that Hap's cronies have been re-elected you can best bet your taxes will increase, your services will continue to decline and local govt will continue to have deaf ears
