Turkey Trot runners to help the homeless

Thanksgiving morning, area runners will race in the annual Turkey Trot 5K through Fredericksburg.

Organizers hope that those runners will think about other people who spend long periods of time on their feet--the homeless.

Runners are encouraged to bring new white tube or crew socks and new or gently used shoes. Micah Ecumenical Ministries will use the donations to help those without a place to stay.

The annual Friends of Micah/YMCA Turkey Trot starts Nov. 26, 9:05 a.m. at the Central Rappahannock Regional Library headquarters.

For details on the race, visit runfarc.com or call 540/371-962. For details on Micah, visit dolovewalk.net or call 540/479-4116.
