Tremblay named to city economic post

Fredericksburg has hired Richard Tremblay to be its economic development manager.

Tremblay, 56, is currently an executive vice president with the Silver Cos.' residential division. He has worked previously as planning director for Stafford County, and is a longtime Stafford resident.

He will start on Jan. 11.

Tremblay has a degree in urban affairs from Furman University and a master's in city and regional planning from the University of Tennessee.

The economic development manager position is one of two vacancies in the city's Department of Economic Development and Tourism. Kim Schill left the position earlier this year.

The position of economic development director has been vacant since Kevin Gullette left in October 2008, and the city has no plans to fill that position right now. Karen Hedelt has been serving as interim director.

Tremblay will be paid $74,480.
