Help us put an end to domestic violence

On Oct. 29, the Rappahannock Council on Domestic Violence was hosted by the Stafford County Victim Witness Office for their 29th Annual Candlelight Vigil.

The evening was part of the continuing programs offered during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Maj. David Decatur, Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney Eric Olsen, and Detective Brian Smyser spoke of their dedication to this blight on our society.

The evening continued with our Open Mic for the victims of domestic violence to tell their story if they so wished.

This one night reminds all of us of the fragile nature of love and life and gives our victims a chance to help others by telling their story.

We would like to thank Stafford Victim Witness for their dedication and hard work for making this evening more than candlelight and speeches, but also a renewal of our vision statement of "creating a diverse network of community members working together to promote safe relationships, homes, and communities."
